A Quiet-Season Visit to Pollença
Visiting Mallorca in winter means discovering a completely different island: quieter, more authentic and full of places that only reveal their beauty when summer has faded.
As a wine lover, I spent a winter day in the north of Mallorca, in Pollença, to visit Bodegas Can Vidalet, a boutique winery located at the foot of the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana.
Although guided tours and tastings return in spring, my winter experience was so memorable that I had to share it. If you enjoy wine, nature and soulful places, keep reading.
A cosy refuge among winter vineyards
The moment I arrived, I understood the charm of Can Vidalet in winter. The vines are resting until the next harvest, and the whole estate feels peaceful and slow.
Even without tours, the winery shop and outdoor seating remain open. This means you can:
- buy wine, gin or liqueurs directly from the producer
- chat with the friendly winery team
- enjoy a glass or bottle outdoors with beautiful views
- fully unplug from everyday life
We chose a bottle of Ses Pedres, a smooth and elegant white wine — perfect for the crisp Mallorcan winter breeze.

Spectacular UNESCO scenery: winter landscape magic
What impressed me most was the view. From my table I watched the Serra de Tramuntana painted in golden, silver and deep green winter tones.
Winter light in Mallorca is unique: cinematic, soft, almost poetic.
Time seems to slow down — one moment you're sipping wine, and suddenly an hour has passed.
Open all winter: wines & local spirits
The Can Vidalet winery shop remains open even during the quietest months. Here you can:
- discover fresh young wines like Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Negres
- explore aged wines (oak & amphora): Ses Pedres, Barros de Cecili, So del Xiprer, Terra Fusca
- taste artisanal liqueurs distilled on the estate
- pick up local gifts to take home
What I enjoyed most was speaking with the team — warm, knowledgeable and truly passionate about wine.
A boutique atmosphere: warm, relaxed, authentic
Even without guided tours, the atmosphere at Can Vidalet is intimate and welcoming.
I met other travellers looking for the same thing: authentic Mallorca, slow and soulful, with good wine.
We shared stories, toasted together and enjoyed the gentle winter sun — a spontaneous moment that made the visit unforgettable.

What else can you do in the Pollença area in winter?
